Accommodation Pathways

An Integrated Approach

Nightstop has a crucial role to play within the accommodation pathway as it provides an integral part of a package of service provision for young people. Additional services in an integrated approach may include:

Nightstop Plus is a longer term placement in a host's house. Still based on the community host model but the young person can stay with the same host from two to six weeks. Mediation is often run alongside Nightstop Plus to establish or improve a relationship with the family to assess if it is suitable for the young person to return home.

Supported Lodgings is a placement in a host's home for up to two years. Still based on the community host model (however host's receive a payment). The young person is given accommodation and support whilst learning skills for independent living. Mediation can be run alongside Supported Lodgings to establish or improve a relationship with the young person's family.

Family mediation is a process that involves listening to the concerns of young people and their families and encourages them to get back in touch. Family mediation works with families at different stages to encourage family cohesion so that young people can receive the support they need by making an informed decision.
